I'm doing the JMT from Whitney to TM tentatively starting Wednesday Sept. 5th.
I'll be dropping a car at TM the morning of the 4th and need to get to Lone Pine for a permit.
I'll cover gas and dinner if anyone is going that direction and getting to Lone Pine around 2 pm.
Thanks.

I don't know what route you're planning on taking but in case you're not aware, it appears the Whitney main trail is closed September 4-7.
Added… Looks like you may be O.K. According to the last post in this thread, since you have a permit you may be able to get through with only some delays.
Jeff,
THANK YOU! for saving my butt.
I was planning on a walk-in permit.
Time to figure out the alternatives.
Never mind.
I've decided on South to North, probably in over Shepard Pass.
Back on track. Starting on Shepard. Permit is Reserved. Shuttle is Reserved.
Many thanks to Jeff for lots of information.
I'm still looking for a ride from TM to Lone Pine on Tuesday the 4th.
Or Late on the 3rd. It's a long drive from Colorado.
