    Inova-Microlight

Last summer I lost a Photon that had faithfully served me for several years and have been looking for a replacement with a red light. Unfortunately I purchased Inova’s Microlight without researching the product first.

My initial impression was that it was a bit heavier than my old Photon. Removing the clip it comes in at about .30 ounces (with the stainless steel clip about .35 ounces). Unlike my old Photon the Microlight has a rubber button cover making it very easy to find and operate

Inova’s Microlight has four functions: high power, low power, strobe, and signal mode. Pressing the button once activates high mode; pressing the button twice activates low mode; pressing the button three times activates strobe mode. Signal mode is activated by placing the light in strobe mode and then pressing the button for 5 seconds while the light is strobing. In signal mode the light will only work as a squeeze light. Pressing the button for 15 seconds reactivates normal mode.

Inova’s Microlight will automatically turn off after 4 minutes when in high mode. The light does not automatically turn off in low or strobe modes.

Great light for half the price of the Photon right? Not really. The bad news is that the light sometimes automatically turns itself on. I noticed this pretty much right out of the box. Doing some research I discovered that the light is sensitive to static electricity and sometimes turns itself on. After 3 months of riding around in my pocket with no use the battery is drained. For this, the light receives a rating of 1.
