I'm looking to enter the world of Tenkara fly fishing. I have little experience with fishing in general, but have gained some basic knowledge from a couple friends who use traditional Western fly fishing rods. I also just ordered a book on Tenkara that I've seen recommended here to others and have been reading up on techniques for fishing small streams, large streams, lakes, etc.
All that being said, I'm looking to get an all-purpose rod (if possible) that would be good for smaller streams (maybe 20 ft wide max?) and alpine lakes, which seem to require conflicting characteristics from what I've read. FWIW, I expect to be fishing smaller streams more often than alpine lakes.
I did come across this Daiwa Sagiri rod (http://www.tenkarabum.com/daiwa-sagiri.html and http://tetontenkara.blogspot.com/) which seems like it would be pretty versatile and is reviewed quite favorably. However, other than those 2 websites, I can't find much information about it. What do you think?
The other rod I'm looking at it is a 12' Stone Fly 360 rod (http://tenkaraflyfish.webs.com/apps/webstore/products/show/1300337). This one is about half the price of the Daiwa Sagiri rod and doesn't seem to be reviewed as favorably, but I'm wondering if it would be sufficient for a beginner rod? Price isn't too big of a concern, but I don't want to spend more money if I don't have to.
Of course, the Iwana 12' stands out to me as well.
