I found a used camouflage boonie hat today and the label mentioned PTFE– as in breathable membrane. Cool! This one was made by Tru-Spec— they make a lot of military knock-offs and uniform clothing. So I searched on what the label reads, "HAT, ECWCS, H20" and found a number of suppliers who sell them for about $15. Weight on my sample is 4.1oz. Sizing is one size fits all with a drawstring adjustment and it just fits my 7-3/4 XL noggin. The brim is 3".
One reviewer mentioned seam sealing at the inner edge of the brim. There is no venting, so it's not much of a sun hat. A plain khaki one would be great, but it only comes in several camouflage versions and black.
I though it might beat dropping $50 for an OR Sombrero and you get that sexy Rambo effect too :)
