Ive been really putting in some thought and doing some research on tenkara an I think that's the route that would best fit my backcountry fishing needs… Most of the Brooks are very small where I do most of my packing..
Now heres my question??
Is there any other sites other than tankara USA that sell tenkara rods that are more affordable? I just cant justify spending 150+ on something I dont even know if im going to like.. And finding one used is like buying a used tarptent everyone wants top $$ for em and they have been used and abused..
There are a few other choices.
I've reviewed a number of rods so you can compare – and decide whether you want to spend for the Tenkara USA rods or try a less expensive rod.
Like most other things, though, spend more get more.
I've bought tenkara rods from Tenkara USA and from Fountainhead (http://tenkaraflyfish.webs.com/tenkararods.htm), and I'm very happy with Fountainhead as a less expensive alternative. I bought the 12' Caddis Fly Rod for $50 and used it several times.
I looked into those as well… actuality just found the site today.. Im going to look for a used rod for another week and if I come up empty I think im going to go with the stonefly rod by fountain head.. Cant be too bad a rod to start with.. And besides its going to get beat up on the trail..
Next year I will be going at this place.
