    Locale: Beautiful New England!

I really love this jacket and how well it performs in winter. The Golite Momentum is constructed of a super lightweight Polartec Powershield that barely tips the scale at 12oz. The Powershield is backed with a nice and soft lightweight fleece which provides instant warmth and a tightly woven outer face which repels wind, snow, sleet, and even light rain. What is most astonishing is that it is so breathable considering it beats back the wind so well. I have never felt chilled when blasted with cold wind or damp from moisture build up – what a beautiful thing!

This is one jacket that also dries amazingly quickly. On a recent trip in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, it was about 30F & snowing at the base of the mountain and a bit below 0F and windy at the summit. I started off with my usual – a synthetic t-shirt and the Momentum and remained comforable, dry, and warm for half the journey. About half way I was feeling a bit chilled and tossed on my Pat. R-1. I noticed that when I took off the Momentum to add the additional layer, the jacket was actually frozen ( I must have been colder than I thought!) After adding the extra layer, I remained comfortable and dry to the summit, at the summit and the journey down. The jacket also dried very quickly once I added my exta layer of insulation. It was perfect.

On a sizing note, it is best to size up one size unless you like form fitting clothing with little room to layer. The little extra room is great to add some flexiblity to the garment.

One wish list item for this jacket would be a hood (removable would be ideal.

    Outstanding product and fabric!
