Maybe not be exactly relevant, but interesting water-filtration technology no less.

Lifestraw is a 25cm long by 29mm diameter plastic straw, with filtration components inside. Designed for 3rd world countries to allow for safe drinking, meeting the needs of 1 person for an entire year.
