    Hey all,
I'm considering doing a 6-7 day trek in late August/early September. I'd like to incorporate some of the sierra high route trail with the hopes of enjoying some blissful solitude and great views. However, I'd really like to loop in through the JMT or PCT so that I can avoid the hassle of drop-offs or shuttles.
Does anyone have any route recommendations or "must see" spots?
I expect I'll be traveling 10 or so miles a day (I'm halving my normal distance since this will be my first big off-trail attempt).
    Thanks!

    Addendum:
Do I need permits for this plan?

Yes as you will be hiking on a trail to start your hike

"Yes as you will be hiking on a trail to start your hike"

Trails or no trails do not dictate the wilderness permit.

Hiking in a wilderness area during the permit season dictates the permit.
