I have hiked the AT from Springer Mtn, GA to Manchester Center, VT but recently had a third surgery on my left knee and doubt I will be able to hike the rest of the way. I am considering road cycling from VT to Baxter State Park and then doing a summit of Katahdin. Has anyone done anything similiar? Any feedback would be helpful.
Can't say I've done anything similar but I'd say it would make for a fantastic tour. you could probably utilize National forest land for a decent portion of the trip, and it would certainly take you less time. There's a lot of beautiful backroad riding to be had from Vt to Baxter.
