A tiny little two wall shelter perfect for shorter people.

A number of my female hiking friends have the Roadster, which was recently discontinued, but is on a super sale at REIoutlet.com currently.

For a long time, my son and me used the two man version, the Coupe, so when I picked up a Roadster for a long solo trip, I knew I would have no issues using it.

Setting up the Roadster is a learning experience, as you have to make sure the wall struts are taught. Once you learn it, set up is fast and easy.
The tent comes in at 3 lbs with stakes, guy lines and cases for the tent, pole and stakes.

What it offers: A very storm proof shelter that deflects winds, rain and light snows. If you are under 5'8" you can sit up in it in the center. You can fit a full size sleeping pad, backpack and shoes in the tent, though it has a decent side vestibule. It also has a window on the rain fly, and two ceiling vents. Condensation is not an issue, neither is sharp winds at night, as the bottom of tent is not mesh.

Down sides:The fly does not come all the way down the side walls, so if you have a very driven rain, your walls can get wet, which isn't an issue if you are short, but if you are like me and cram gear in the tent at the foot, then it will be. So far in about 10 uses, I have encountered bad rain once. While it didn't soak thru, it did wet out in spots, due to the gear pressing against the wall. It can also be confusing setting up the first time. Part of the weight of the tent comes from that only 1/3 of the tent is mesh. While this gives a much warmer tent in offseason, it adds weight.

I am happy I bought the tent, and continue to use it when going alone. There are lighter tents, but for price this one works great.
