I just finished watching Savant's 2005 CDT film and am now in a state
of calm, filled with an immense desire to be out in the backcountry.
The format of the film is soothing and lends itself well to
introspection allowing you to join in the feeling of what solo hiking
is like. A collection of still images, video clips, music and sparse
narrative the film rolls along nicely, inter-titled at the completion
of each state. Tidbits of humor will keep you laughing throughout and
choice video of panoramas keep you breathless.
The film is well edited and is complete with a DVD menu with chapters denoting sections of the trail. There is a well-matched soundtrack which boosts the power of the imagery. I rate the film a "5" for its professionalism, humor and subject matter.
