It’s a good jacket (should be at an MSRP of $430), but a little heavy to be packed as rain gear on a normal basis for occasional use. It’s designed more as a winter or climbing shell — the hood is big and made for wearing under a helmet, and the brim needs stiffening if you wear it without one. There’s about 6 ounces of net pockets under the front; two levels worth, in fact, with one set reachable from the outside, the other only if you unzip the jacket. Perfect for drying wet gloves or keeping a water bottle or two warm. But if you want to lighten up the jacket, as one buyer did, you can easily seam rip all this stuff out (he reported a wad the size of a small grapefruit when he was done), but the zippers will remain…
