Not the lightest camera around at 410g, but at the time we bought it it had the most features for the lightest weight: 5 Megapixels, decent lens for its size, choice of compression algorithm, raw mode, 4x optical zoom, macro mode, spot meter, full auto to full manual, exposure lock, exposure compensation, low power usage if you use the view finder instead of the viewscreen, etc. Of course not everyone wants or needs all these features.
I took 1200 pictures over 14 days on the Wonderland Trail around Mt. Rainier this past summer, and used slightly more than one battery (not knowing, I took six batteries!). I even dropped it off a small cliff (in its case) and it bounced for 100 feet with no damage.
There may be lighter cameras available now with similar features. I give it a 4 only because it is a bit heavy.
