just got mine in the mail, another well done piece of gear, great hood. i got a small to use it more as a base/midlayer, it still layers over a R2 (with a smartwool midweight on as well) nicely though & under my wildthings epic hooded windshirt, i’m about wear it on a ride through some drizzle to give it a test, i’ll give it a run with just the pyrn & then i’ll do the return trip with it under the epic jacket to see how the breathability holds up.

oh yeah, the stats, 10oz, pertex equilibrium, the fabric really does have a nice face that seems like it will hold up.

grief, the pockets are lined on the back-of-hand side with a tricot lining, but are made of the pertex equilibrium, why?, why not just use the tricot for a ‘venting’ pocket, or why put the tricot in there at all, seems gratuitous to me.

the napoleon pocket seems too small to be truly useful, but is at least is made of tricot, for a small vent at least.

report: great jacket, worn in a decent drizzle, alone & under a epic jacket, was adequate alone, in conditions enough to justify the epic anyway, but most any new piece of gears’ DWR will perform well, the big plus was that it wasn’t ‘too much’ under the epic, this material really breathes well, better than the patagonia dragonfly (in my experience) i took it out for ride on a warm (68deg), sunny, yet blustery day as well, with a defeet shirt under it (*very* thin baselayer) & did not overheat at all. a good all-rounder. yippee

Thanks for the very useful review. I just came across this jacket at REI. Especially comparing it to the Dragonfly was helpful.
