If you’re looking for small size in a satellite phone, check out the new Globalstar phone — it’s about half the size and weight of current Iridium and Globalstar phones.
11/20/06: The Globalstar service is in the midst of a system upgrade which should render the system much more reliable sometime in 2007 WHERE the new GSP 1700 phone should prove very well. Initial tests we have done show the phone works much better than the previous model GSP1600. The new phone GSP1700 (currently featured on the globalstar.ca website for $995 Cdn / $868 USD) will be available at the lowest price on the internet here in January. http://www.satellitediscountstore.com/globalstar.htm
