I just tested out a new idea for a pillow-stuffsack. This is using 1oz of 800 fill down, along with M50 fabric. You just use it as a stuffsack / organizer during the day, and when you get ready for bed, just replace whatever you are storing with a rain jacket or similar for support, and you have a nice down pillow for only 1.2oz of weight!

Thanks to Shane Fleenor for the great idea!

    This is the sack empty.

This is the sack with a pair of M50 pants.

If anyone wants one of these, use my custom page to specify the size, color and the payment. I won't be able to use the M50, as this was a special order, but I can use black, red, bright blue, denim blue, olive or grey 0.9oz fabric. The weight should be within 0.1oz of the M50. I'll get them shipped out next weekend.

    Small – 8" x 10.5" – 1 oz of down – $30

    Medium – 10" x 14" – 1 oz of down – $32

(Size pictured above is a Medium)

Very cool idea. I bet you could even use one of those disposable inflatable pillows inside to create a hybrid air bladder/down pillow.

I had just planned on using raingear or something, but an air bladder would obviously be more comfortable, if it was light enough to justify carrying. Anybody got any suggestions for one that might fit the bill?

    Shane,

you can try "water wings" for kids – the cheapo inflatable type.

Also, a platy would work; and is dual use. Hmmmmm what else…the cheap inflatables sold in the luggage/travel section at WallyWorld, etc. for use on a plane.

Also just got mine. Medium w/1.5oz fill. My rain jacket fits in it fine and gives it extra thickness. Goose down side up and it's super comfy. 2 oz on my cheapo digital scale. Very pleased!
