Patrolling in cold temps tomorrow

I have to ski patrol tomorrow in temps in the low teens to single digits.

That means 10 minute chair lift rides and standing for long periods policing boardheads as they depart the chair.
So my clothes are as follows:

1. Polyester polarweight long johns
2. 2 pr. polypro liner sox, 1 pr med. wt. wool/acrylic sox
3. heavy wool fisherman's knit sweater
4. Thinsulate insulated GTX ski bibs
5. 300 wt. Polartec jacket
6. GTX patrol parka
7. Ski helmet (foam insulated) & goggles
8. GTX gauntlet gloves W/ removable heavy pile liners & spare liners
9. neoprene face mask (if necessary)
10. Turtle Fur neck/face collar
11. Nordica alpine ski boots

PLUS:
energy bars, candy bars, pastries, sandwiches, etc., water, lip balm, sunscreen (we're at 9,000 ft. avg. altitude)

Getting ready for 7 1/2 hours of patrolling involves knowing what to wear for a comfortable day. Experience is a hard teacher.

And that is why I never patrolled. Have to be there early, leave really late, and be around hurt people. It's just too much like work. I had usually been at happy hour for 2 hours when the patrol did their sweep. But the gear sounds warm! Hopefully you'll get a little sun, and be shedding layers.

No, no, no!
The sidecutters would be titanium 6Al4V, but the baseball bat would be CF for sure – with a tungsten carbide weight at the end.

CF baseball bat for "courtesy reminders" that it's not all about them when boarders sit down in the MIDDLE of the unloading area to strap on their boards.

Titanium wire cutters for relieving idiots of their passes when they arrive at the top of the lift with a can of beer in hand. (The true rednecks finish it part way up and toss the cans down on the ski run. Clever,that!)

That sounds like a ton of clothes to me. While I dont patrol (not that I am even capable) but i do ski two days a week.

I am all around Tahoe so the elevation is similar or higher and temps are comparable. I wear silk weight LJ, a NF poly shirt, a 320 icebreaker hoodie and a NF mountain lite parka, NF hyvent ski pants and stay warm in almost any weather. Yesterday at Kirkwood it was -3 when we went up and I did add a WM vest for a few hours.

Of course I seem to be the warmest of our group as my wife was dressed like the michellean man and still had to go inside to warm her feet at lunch.

Go figure?
