1.38 oz (39g) for the pair

I used some Merrell Insoles, 3/8" wide elastic, and nylon washers.

I pulled the elastic through, added the washer and sewed a small hem.

They are surprisingly comfortable. I'll be testing them this summer.

do you think a duct tape band would work equally as well? of course you would have to double side it on the top so that it wont stick to your socks. just thinking.

Yes, I didn't want flip flops that I couldn't wear socks with.

I suppose duct tape would have worked, I figured the elastic would be a bit more comfy and help them to stay on. One issue may be that the elastic stretches out before they wear out.

what a coincidence, I just added a post about hut/camp slippers today, too. Yours look a bit better, mine (5mm closed cellf foam, duct-tape) are a bit lighter at 31 grams.

Yes, I was thinking about the closed cell foam, but I really wanted them to be compact also.

And mine are only size 8 so at size 11 they would be even heavier.

    Have any pics of them?

Had I known it was so easy to upload pics, I would have done it in my original post :-)

    CCF Duct-Tape Hut Slippers

I could trim them a bit more, shaving off a few grams, making them 30 grams in total. I even think the US size is more a 12 then 11.

Oh nice, those aren't bulky at all. I didn't know the ccf came in 5mm.

The CCF is from half of a Multimat Compact Kumfie, which is a bit more rigid then sleepingmat CCF. I looked it up, it's 6.5mm.

Todd – I like that you used two different colors so that you don't get the right and the left mixed up. :)

another lightweight option is huaraches, similar to todd's.

    edit:

here's a pair I made tonight. I used some sort of Vibram gum rubber soling sheet and 5/32" bungee cord. For a size 9.5 foot, you need about 9×11" rubber, and at least 7' of lace material (maybe a bit more to be safe, just don't be like me and think 6' is enough!). I would say these are even suitable for hiking. I feel confident running on concrete and grass.huaraches1huaraches2
