This is a simple internal frame 54l (3300ci) backpack officially weighing 985g (about 2lb3oz) – my kitchen scales simply say a bit less than a kilo.
The features count a fixed lid with an elasticated rim and an external pocket with a water resistant zip and key clip. I am still searching for the advertised internal lid pocket, although I don’t really miss it. The pack has small wand pockets, however the compression cords can be used to keep things in place. There are also small pockets on the front of the hip belt. These are shallow, but elasticated. Other features include an axe loop and shock-cord attachments for poles.
The only thing I miss is a tent/sleeping pad attachment – for instance the webbing straps could have continued under the base of the pack.
The harness consists of lightly padded shaped shoulder straps with a movable elasticated chest strap, load lifter straps and a more substantial hip belt. The belt is tightened Osprey-style by pulling inwards.
The frame is made from a one-piece bent aluminium tube accessible from a velcro-closed sort of pocket inside. According to the (few) dealers in the UK at this time, the sizing is the same as for Crux packs. The size 2 fits me (179cm) well.
Drawcord retainers, webbing straps, compression cords and zipper catches (of tent guyline) are kept light but sufficiently solid, while the main outer fabric seems very strong to me. A light fabric looking like their tent groundsheet fabric is used for the collar and lid pocket. The elasticated front set of wand pockets seem slightly fragile to me, but time will tell. Inside seams are neatly covered with light webbing.
I find this a strong pack (more lightweight than ultra-lightweight), where the belt, frame and padding do a very good job with a load of 12kg/26lb. I have not tried heavier loads, but the thought doesn’t frighten me. Even though I had to rig a tent attachment, this is my preferred pack for lightweight 1-2 night trips.
