Here is what I got so far for a 3-night winter ski trip.  The idea here is a mobile camp, picking up stakes each day, traveling to a new sight and setting up again.  I did not include on the list my first aid kit yet, as I do not have a weight for that yet.  The items represented are what will be in my pack, I also have a list of items on my body or transitioning from pack to body depending on level of activity and weather.  Things like my pants, base layers, light mid-weight layer, liner gloves, mid-weight gloves, beanie, skis, poles, ski boots.  All of those items I do not have listed as I am considering the weight of stuff just on my back.

One area of consideration for me is the stove.  I use the dragonfly simply factoring in making water but realize the weight penalty.  I have seen some recent ideas about using canister stoves in colder temps so I am certainly open to suggestions.  Beyond that, I am open to any suggestions/ideas to improve my kit.  thanks for the input!

    Locale: Way up North

What are you expected night time temps? Will that down jacket be warm enough?

Well that’s a good question.  I certainly think I could easily see single digits, maybe below zero.  I’ve got a wool base layer top, a light insulating top, the down jacket, and my shell.  I suppose I could add another layer between the base and light insulating top.  I have gone out with that before but wanted to shave off that weight.  I’ll sleep in my down jacket and pants with my base layer underneath.  I’ve got a down beanie too.

I think at a certain temp sure I could get cold but I tried to strike a balance between the r-value of my pad, the temp of my bag and my down layers.
