    Not for backpacking, but a 6-pound capacity (8 pounds empty, 14 pounds when filled) vertical “plumber’s tank” is sweet for a lot of uses like car camping, weed burning, etc.  You can have them refilled them directly at a service station for cheap.  Plumbers like the tall tanks so they can step through the 14.5″ spaces of a framed house as they do the rough plumbing.

    Those 20-pound aluminum tanks are only 14 pounds.  Versus “20-pound” (4.4 gallon) steel BBQ tanks that hold 20 pounds of propane in 20 pounds of steel.  Just as the green “Coleman” cylinders hold 1 pounds of propane in 1 pound of steel.
