You may be wondering why I dare put a lowe alpine pack review on BPL. Well, let me tell you, this is a day pack and it doesn’t weigh 6.5 pounds(like my long gone Contour.)
The Flywheel 30 is currently my favorite day pack. It weighs in at 29 oz after I made a few modifications(the main one being a removable hipbelt.) Features include: 30+ liter volume, super comfy mesh padded back and shoulder straps, stable teardrop shape, two load compression straps per side, mesh side pockets, front mesh pocket, front bungee compression system, front zippered exterior pocket, sterum strap, 1.5 inch webbing hip belt, hydration bladder pocket with port, durable cordura pack material and zippered top pack access. It also includes a waterproof pack cover which works OK, but is heavy.
Basically this pack is feature rich, super comfy and reasonably lightweight. The only drawback for me is the garish and large lowe alpine logo. I can stand being a tasteful walking advertisement, but a 2.5×3 inch embroidered logo in dayglo orange on a daypack is over the top for me. (I toned down the bright orange with a black marker!)
