i’m thru-hiking the pct this year, and right now i’m pretty keen on the smd essence. based on the dimensions ron moak posted in the other thread, a can *should* fit, but not with a lot of room left over. has anyone tried it? with which can? did your other gear fit well/at all?
thanks.
I just dropped my full size Bear Vault in my Essence and it looks good if you base weight is under 10lbs.

I didn’t have any problem making things fit… and there was still room in the pockets and lid. I was carrying what:

suggests with 30F low, 60F day, bear canister, solo, not extra light, not bugs. Obviously I was using the essence rather than the vapor trail. I was also carrying and extra 2.5L of water in the bear bag to simulate a full load of food.
If you dont already have a canister, check out the Bearikade canisters from wild ideas
I have no idea if they will fit in an essence, but they are really light
forgot about the ursack, with that aluminum liner it could be a good option.
