My MLD Exodus finally came. Other than this pack I have a 1500ci Golite ION thats a little small and a REI Newstar thats 6000ci and 7 pounds! The exodus swallows up all my gear perfectly. A weeks worth of food and gear should fit in it perfectly . I don't feel so bad about putting my quit and parka in their either due to the extra room. Looks like it will work for winter too. I got it with the UL Packlid and a Medium hip belt pocket. My wife who has shown little interest in my gear or even backpacking even said the pack looked "SEXY".
I swapped chest straps from the Ion because it has a expander bungee that also holds a hydration tube really well. The hip pocket holds my camera.
The pack lid holds my first aid kit/misc. gear inside and my hat and sit pad underneath.

Jul 11, 2009 at 12:33 pm #1513277Looks like MLD, changed their Sternum straps. I wish they'd send out replacement straps to all that have recently purchased packs.
They did tend to pop-off the daisy chains. This occured on all 3 MLD packs that I've owned, including my current 2009 Exodus.Jul 11, 2009 at 1:43 pm #1513281Hey Michael,
They didn't change the chest strap. He mentions:
"I swapped chest straps from the Ion because it has a expander bungee that also holds a hydration tube really well."
Pack looks great though! I am really thinking of downsizing from my Circuit to get an Exodus…As soon as I get my tarp I'm going to do it.
Jul 11, 2009 at 2:23 pm #1513293Oops,didn't see that, my bad. But there is an issue with their Sternum straps falling off.
Andrew,
I may be interested in selling my Exodus, if your interested?Jul 11, 2009 at 4:01 pm #1513304I'm thinking about the Prophet. MLD make excellent things. Congratulations.
cheers,
fredJul 11, 2009 at 4:55 pm #1513310I think the Prophet with Exodus hip pads would be my ideal durable 3 season pack but I'm trying to gear up for all 4 seasons. The 1 ounce MYOG cuben pack on gossamergear.com will be my next pack tho.

Jul 12, 2009 at 1:57 am #1513360Matthew,
I believe your pictures of the Exodus gives a better view/angles of the pack than those on the MLD website…nice pack.
"I think the Prophet with Exodus hip pads would be my ideal durable 3 season pack…" – sounds like a great combination of pack size and hipbelt comfort….have to consider it.

Jul 12, 2009 at 4:24 am #1513365Matthew, nice pics and a nice pack. I got an Exodus for christmas and it's been performing great so far. My first frameless pack, too. And I definitely agree with your wife… super sexy pack! One of the things that's surprised me the most is just how waterproof it is. I did a 14 hour day in constant rain a couple weeks ago, and the only water that got in was from me opening the pack and dripping into it. Amazing!
I didn't get any of the options, but I've had my eye on the hip belt pocket for a camera. After seeing it on your pack, I'm definitely getting one.
Jul 12, 2009 at 10:57 am #1513404Thanks for the comments guys. After using the Ion's hipbelt I knew I'd need a little more padding/structure for a weeks worth of food. I think The wings on the exodus will be perfect. The medium pocket easily fits most compact digitals. I'm probably getting another one for my flyfishing kit like Thom Darrah did on the Tenkara thread.
Jul 13, 2009 at 6:56 pm #1513694Ron at MLD here-
Thanks all for the nice comments and good feedback.
Waist belt options:
We can always add the larger Ark hipbelt to the Exodus- no charge but it becomes custom. Only a good option for the LG and maybe the Med size Exodus though. Email me first.Sternum Straps:
We recently switched to a thicker daisy chain webbing to fix the mentioned strap issue. All good now and all packs shipping are updated.A few previous packs packs higher daisy slots with the lighter webbing were too wide for the sternum clips to grip well at those higher positions.
Anyone with a daisy problem on any previous pack (might be a dozen or so out there…) can email us for a free replacement sternum strap that will circle the shoulder strap (like lots of other packs) and will work great at any daisy setting and never fall off.
Peace,
Ron -
