An ultralight version of this monster backpack-campingbed-tent combo would be pretty cool, no? Maybe with carbon-fibre frame, and silnylon+epic as materials.. :-)

Here are two more links to the PowerPack/Gearskin system:
4.2kg (9.24 lbs) for tent, pack and cot — heavy, but not that heavy…
Ben, You’re right. Sub-10 not too shabby. That cot must sleep nice too.
Only REAL problem I see for this “all in one” is that the way its formed, if it starts to really rain, the pack section of the system. Bag AND suspension are right there hanging in the water pools and splashback zone.
Otherwise, I think its kinda cool.
Under 10lbs for a FRAMED backpack, tent, and cot. And with gear stuffed into the backpack section you could forego a sleep mat.
I have a buddy who has been talking about an idea like this for months. He’s going to love this pic. Thanks. Together with poles you could also fashion a chaise lounge.
The biggest drawback I can see is the narrowness of the tarp/tent. I doubt Calista Flockhart could fit in that thing.

I think Bruce at Luxury Lite is thinking of doing something like this… not this exactly… but just the idea of integration… perhaps an integrated shelter / UL cot or something. I spoke with him about it many months ago… no details whatsoever… just that he’s working on some cool integration ideas.
