I removed the lid and some compression straps from my pack recently that were of absolutely no use. The good news is that I reduced the weight of my pack by almost 7oz. The bad news is I have no idea how to seal the webbing straps that I cut so the don't fray.
I tried to cut them as close to the pack as possible so that it would look better and not have half inch stubs sticking out in 14 places.
How do you guys seal these things when they are VERY close to other fabric. Obviously a lighter is not going to work. I was thinking about using a hot knife but thought I should ask the pros first.
I might just be stuck with some very small fraying webbing.
