Hey all, I found myself shopping around to replace our worn out GoLite Shangri-La 5 and ended up making a spreadsheet of what’s available right now. If you’re interested in this style of shelter, maybe you can benefit from this:

    Any additions, corrections or comments?

DCF versions of most of these shelters are available, of course. I didn’t include them at this point due to our personal budget and my eventual boredom of making a gear spreadsheet. Maybe I’ll add them later! The Ultamid 4 is included, however, as a sort of benchmark or ceiling against the others. For any other DCF version just add a few hundreds dollars and subject a few ounces from the listed sil version :)

I also put a couple non-pyramids on the list in the same size-range: the TT Hogback and Tent Lab Moonlight. Am I missing others? These don’t afford the same versatility, but they are compelling for other reasons.

The conventional wisdom seems to favor a ~9 x 9 pyramid for simplicity, storm-worthiness, versatility, and aesthetics. The design is not perfect, but it’s proven. The category is not lacking in offerings. Many of you have years of experience with these shelters and could speak to them at length.

Curious to hear your thoughts. Thanks, all!

Actually the Mega Light is 108″ X 108″. “Usable” floor space is 86 X 86. From the BD Website . . . it shows total coverage as 81 sq ft or 9′ X 9′ (108″ X 108″). I have one and confirmed the dimensions.
