We just discovered and hiked Mount Margaret which an awesome Colorado trail for hiking, horseback riding, backcountry camping, and mountain biking. Also, Eagle's Nest Open Space is 20 miles away and has a great set of trails too.
Would this be a good option for lower elevation, non-snowbound camping and hiking in the Denver/Fort Collins area as we wait for the high country to thaw? Is there enough room to get away and perhaps off trail for a night or two?
Yes, Mount Margaret appears to be a great low elevation camping area. However, it should be noted that the backcountry camp sites we saw were pretty close to the trail.
