Since your body can only absorb one liter of water per hour and its best to take it in slowly, ive decided I want to get a reservoir so that I will be reminded to slowly sip on the water instead of get the bottle out and chug then put it back on the side of my pack. My question is, do I want a 100 oz 72 oz or 70 oz. I am going to get a nalgene canteen wide mouth (like the platy) to filter the water and put it into my camelbak easily. Which size cambelbak?

    Thanks

For the weight you will definatley be cautioned to stay with a platy 2 liter or msr cloud…. whatever. The camelbacks are just so very heavey in comparison. If you are going to already be bringing a liter nalgene you should opt for the 1 or 2 liter and simply carry a liter of filtered water in the nalgene. That is saying if you are set on camelback. I don't know if it is advised but I use a widemouth 2L msr resivior and just hit it with the pen twice. Weight is like 6 oz compared to 16 for the camleback.

camelbacks are nice and indestructible… a little bit of overkill but i only carry them when I'm snowboarding anymore. i switched to a platy 1L hydration system which is at near half the weight. Then i carry a couple more 1L platy bottles to fill and collect as i go. that way if i need to carry 3 or 4 liters i can, but if i know that there is consistent water sources i'll just carry a liter or 2 and refill. Definitely switch to a hydration bladder it's worth the couple extra ounces IMO. I love mine and would die of dehydration if i couldn't constantly sip on some water.
