One of my favourite areas to hike in is in the north part of the South Island of New Zealand. The weather isn’t as bad as the areas further south and there are some great passes and mountains to climb. This month I attempted a trip that was so dangerous it was banned by a local walks club secretary!
Just finished editing the movie and you can view it here http://blip.tv/file/1698342

Great video and narrative! I found it extremely interesting and fun to share your trip with you.
Jan 26, 2009 at 8:28 am #1472970Petras, excellent job on the video.
My favorite highlights:
– Anti-Social Lesbians
– Training w/ cigars
– Hitch hiking tipsOh, and of course the trip looked fun too! :)
Jan 26, 2009 at 8:55 am #1472974Well done Pedro, though I think you will need to practice the Haka, not half as scary as those All Blacks

Awesome, awesome! You had me laughing out loud! One of the best trip reports I've seen in a while.
Is it just me or has the economic downturn made BPL funnier?
Jan 26, 2009 at 2:01 pm #1473078Thanks guys.
You can view more of my video's at http://www.pedroarvy.com
I started making them a few years ago and they are getting better as I learn to edit them and think before I speak.Feb 17, 2009 at 9:08 pm #1478579Hi Petras
Finally I have broadband so I was able to watch the video. Good stuff. Yeah, you were right, I should have been there.
Still not sure about the benefit of cigar sucking.
FrancoFeb 18, 2009 at 11:18 am #1478710Oh Pedro, that was really really good. I've got a sinking feeling we may have passed each other on the Nelson Lakes part of your trip…!
I really love that bush climb out of Ada pass onto Gloriana too (NOT). I've never been down the other side though. Sigh. A man who loves Laphroig and cubans is my kinda tramper ;)
I look forward to your next intsallment.

But wait, there is more …
Pedro is also into eating real food on the trail. So whilst I was chewing on my muesli bars for breakfast, he was frying eggs, sausages and mushrooms. (different walk)
FrancoFeb 19, 2009 at 3:00 pm #1479117The man doesn't know the meaning of UL, but he's got taste.
OK, my kind of man would carry the cigars, the whiskey and the real food for me so I wouldn't have to compromise my UL fundamentals!
