If you've been looking for a lightweight bag that is lightweight on your wallet, REI has their kilo flash clearanced at $90. I picked one up tonight for my 8 yr old as it's a great value for a down bag for my son. I picked up the women's version as its shorter and warmer, so I'm hoping he doesn't kill me. Maybe I'll say its from Santa.
Dec 5, 2008 at 9:20 am #1462332This is a great deal! Great for scouts! 750 fp down.
Note the men's is lighter and 5 degrees colderThey also have Long for 100.
Dec 5, 2008 at 1:15 pm #1462379Wow. I paid more for used Marmot Atom, that weighs more.
Dec 5, 2008 at 2:42 pm #1462398It looks like you can use the $20 off, HOLIDAY8, on a purchase of $100 or more by buying something small in addition to the bag.
It's probably a good deal for someone that wants value.

Dec 5, 2008 at 6:01 pm #1462445! Oh nooooooooooooo
89.83 + 10.17 = 100 – 20 (code) = $80The worst part is, if that 10.17 of filler is stuff you'd buy anyhow,
you could talk yourself into imagining the price to be that much lower. 19 oz 40 degree bag 70$.Dec 5, 2008 at 6:37 pm #1462454Couldn't resist that price!
$70 for a 20 ounce down bag! However be aware that this is a tight fitting bag. When I was looking at the Women's Regular at REI a lady walked by and said: "That is such a cute kids bag." Well, I fit – I think :)
Dec 5, 2008 at 6:50 pm #1462458Jeez, either this one or the JRB No Sniv on sale.
Any input?
Dec 5, 2008 at 7:02 pm #1462460It seems that this is a little narrow/tight of a fit. Knowing that, a quilt may be the better choice for me.
Dec 5, 2008 at 10:06 pm #1462489You should notice that the girth is 59 inches at the shoulders. If you have wide shoulders, this is a tight fit. I had one but opted out.
Dec 7, 2008 at 11:36 am #1462751I bought my long version a couple of weeks before the latest clearance sale for $124 and still feel that I got a great deal. The $100 price is outrageous for this bag. I've slept in it in temps into the mid 30s, with my cold sleep clothing, of course, and I am amazed at how warm the bag is. It seems so thin and light that I just didn't expect it to be that comfortable. The hood cinch cordlock broke and I replaced it. Also, I think that the draft tube could be a little larger for a better seal. However, this is a small issue for me. It scrunches down to about and 8 inch ball with the included compression sack. I am slim and the narrow configuration really adds to the quick heating and warmth of the bag. I am slightly claustrophobic but have not problem in this bag. The long is 59 inch shoulder girth, the regular is 57 inches.
Dec 9, 2008 at 9:01 am #1463147Price must have come down since this thread was started, just a few days ago! Both mens and womens are now $69.83, the long is $79.83.
Dec 9, 2008 at 11:17 am #1463172Wow… $20 price drop shoved me off of the fence.
Might be a little cold for shoulder seasons in a hammock but I should be great most of the time. Couldn't resist any longer!
Dec 9, 2008 at 1:36 pm #1463203Thanks for passing this on! I just bought the bag plus a light Rei pad for $90 combined after the coupon! Christmas for my wife, who I'm trying to convert to UL. Simply unbelievable!
Dec 19, 2008 at 9:48 am #1465395Not to beat a dead bush, but all REI sale and clearance items are an additional 15% off when you add them to your shopping cart, now until 12/24. New price $58.83.
And somehow it still isnt good enough for me (because I already have a bag, and all reviews say this is quite a narrow bag) but hopefully will be a great deal for somebody!Dec 19, 2008 at 2:49 pm #1465483I bought one.
$70 + $30 of food + $5 shipping – $20 off – $30 of food =
$55 for the sleeping bag. How's that for a convoluted justification.
Note: The men's REGULAR is 57" at the shoulder, very tight. I am 5' 10" and 175 lbs and am right at the limit.
Dec 19, 2008 at 4:12 pm #1465493Vs 57" inches in the regular
62" in WM Versalite.Dec 19, 2008 at 4:52 pm #1465499Ryan –
Thanks for the initial Kilo Flash heads-up. I just purchased a men's long for $72.44, including tax, shipped free to a nearby REI store.
