MSR Stove-PowerMax Fuel

While playing with the Coleman Xtreme Stove I mentioned a modified MSR/PowerMax marriage. I decided to play with the Xtreme/PowerMax product because it is supposed to burn really well at low temperatures. For me this should be between -20 and +20 degrees “F”. I also have an old MSR Rapid Fire Stove that I really like and have never upgraded it to the MSR WindPro. I decided to modify the Rapid Fire so I could attach it to the PowerMax canister and then if that worked OK I will buy a new WindPro Stove and convert it.
Today I decided to go ahead and work on the modification necessary to mate the PowerMax to my Rapid Fire. The Rapid Fire is not a light stove and the stock weight is 336gr/11.85oz. Modified to attach it to the PowerMax as you see it weighs 322.7gr/11.38oz. I slight weight savings. The intent was not to make the Rapid Fire as light as possible but to work out how I would make the modification and what parts were available to me easy. The WindPro starts out much lighter and I maybe able to get lighter fittings for it.
The first picture shows both the modified Rapid Fire and one of my Xtreme stoves burning side by side.
For the modification I had to cut the gas line on the Rapid Fire. Then crimp a fitting on the line that would mate to the stock gas line from the Xtreme stove. The crimp fitting comes with a threaded end. I used another fitting and was able to connect both lines together. Pictures show this better than I can explaine it.
The rest of the pictures show the Rapid Fire/PowerMax Canister modification. The last picture was taken with a flash for more detail.
