MSR used to make titanium fuel bottles. Seems they don’t anymore. Anyone one know where to get them? Maybe another company that makes them?
Thanks,
Roy
Hi Roy,
I don’t know of anybody making them at present. As you note, MSR dropped them and the most likely company to make them–Snow Peak–only makes a single aluminum one, perhaps because they only have one white gas stove. Primus doesn’t either.
Still, I wouldn’t be too disappointed if I were you. The weight savings aren’t significant, e.g., I have MSR 0.3L fuel bottles in Ti and Al, and the Ti is a whopping 0.2 oz lighter. It’s a lot more dent resistant and definitely looks cooler, but probably not twenty-five bucks worth (the approximate cost difference between the two).
But hey, it’s a collectors item :-)

that Ti bottle might bring big bucks on eBay?
[BTW, Mr. Dreher – are you planning on testing the PT Apex headlamp?]
I’ve heard of vintage Gregory and Dana packs snagging Big Bucks from Japanese ebay buyers, so you never know! Oddly enough, the MSR Ti bottles are from Japan.
I’d love to test the Apex and hopefully, Princeton Tec will see fit to pass one along for review when they get a chance. I have a hunch they’re busy meeting the pent-up demand after the half-year launch delay, and customers come first (darn those customers).
You got a darn good start with your reader review, I must say!
