I’ve noticed that a lot of G6 owners carry 2-1L plattys and I’m wondering were you put them since the pack has no side slots for them. I just finished making a 1550 C.I. pack and it is absolutely impossible to reach the 1-L containers if they were on the side.
I decided to make 2 holders from a piece of thinlite pad enclosed in nylon. I just sewed it to the bottom of the shoulder straps and sewed a loop on the bottom of the holder to put the waist strap through.
This works pretty good in balancing out the weight of the pack.
By the way the pack is fully padded and still comes in right at 3.7oz. Don’t know how it worked out in being the same weight as the G6, but I’m very satisfied with it. I made 3 spinlite bags to hold the tent, clothing, and bag. The sack for the bag is the same dimension as the pack so it fits snug in the bottom of the pack and is big enough to hold my North Face Hightail in so I can use the bag for winter trips as well. The two bags for the tent and cloths are the same size but smaller in circumference. The rest of my stuff fits in my pot and there is still plenty of room for 3 days of food. For summer trips I can also stuff my cloths in with my bag which will give enough room for 5 days of food and maybe even 7 if I leave my pad at home and just take the balloon bed.

    1) bungee them to the shoulder straps Adv. Racing style, and/or…
    2) bungee (or bungee and velcro loops) them to the lower webbing portion of the shoulder straps. easy to reach to pull up (to the strap adj. buckles) and un-bungee.
3)1L Platy bladder in the pack itself is also doable.
    4) a fanny pack can hold one or two 1L Platy bottles.

    i’ve tried all 4 approaches. personally, like #1 and #2 the best, followed by #’s 3 & 4 – in that order.
