Hello there again, Is there any difference between a Micro Puff and a Micro Puff Pullover? Obviously one is a jacket and one is a pullover…but is there any other difference? Also, is the ’05 version of the Pullover different from the ’04 version (the one on sale)?
Oct 30, 2005 at 8:41 pm #1344040The Micropuffs are all basically the same. They come in several different styles: pullover (which I have and love), jacket, vest, and pants. The only difference between the one on sale (’04) and the newest one is that the present one has a slightly different fabric (1.3 oz. in comparison to 1.0) which is supposedly a little more windproof, water resistant and durable. I have last year’s with the 1.0 oz fabric and find it to be quite wind proof and water resistant. Durability is quite solid as well. I wouldn’t pay twice as much for this year’s when last year’s is so much cheaper. There will be practically no difference. Check out backpackinglight.com’s review of last year’s Micropuff. They absolutely love it. I like the pullover the best because it is much lighter than the jacket (11 oz. to 20 oz) and has a half zip which keeps the heat in better. Handwarmer pockets and the hood aren’t as important to me as the weight savings.

Oct 31, 2005 at 12:04 am #1344046What Matt said…. These are great pieces I own all of them except the full zip jacket, I would recommend them anyway, but for half price the p/o is a GREAT deal.
Oct 31, 2005 at 3:54 am #1344049I have the 04 version of both the Micro Puff Pullover and the Micro Puff Jacket. Though only 5′ 6″ tall, I have a 42-43″ chest. My Large Pullover weighs 11.6 oz while my Jacket weighs 17.4 oz. The Pullover is roomy enough to layer for me; it has an outer Napoleon Type Pocket, a half zip with draft flap, and a thin partially shock corded adjustable waist. The Jacket has a larger fit, full length zipper with draft flap, adjustable shock corded hood, 2 outer hand pockets (no insulation on the outer wall of the pocket), inside Napoleon Type pocket, and adjustable shock cord waist (cord much heavier than on the Pullover). Both pieces have elastic around the wrist, but the Pullover elastic runs about 1/3 of the way around while the Jacket elastic runs completely around the wrist.
