Photos to Flash drive

Is it possible to download photos direct from a camera to a USB flash drive? Via a purpose made cable I guess. It could be direct from Memory card to Flash drive but maybe the camera is needed to supply power for the transfer.

Sorry, had brain fade. I'd just get a huge memory card.
