I notice that some people use ridgeline guys that are 8 feet long each, while others use guys that are 9 feet long. What is the difference? Why not save a tiny bit of weight and go with shorter ridgeline guys?
Does this difference also apply to corner guys and side guys?
i’m not sure what the lengths of my guylines are. i know the side ones on my tarp are pretty short. i’d guess 3 feet or so.
i don’t carry one long length of rope. i carry several short ones (4 feet or so). if i need to lengthen a guyline, make a clothes line or whatever, i just tie them together with quick release knots. takes a couple seconds each.
