Dec 15, 2007 at 6:17 pm #1412643Anyone have any experience with the micropuff pants. I did a quick forum search and didn't find much.
Dec 15, 2007 at 7:35 pm #1412657They are great from everything I've read and the specs look good. A little heavier than say BMW Cocoon because of the full side zips but if you need that feature I'd say they're one of the best buys out there. I'm trying to find a pair to try on before I buy them but I think they'd be great on future mountain trips to match with the DAS parka. They should be warmer than cocoons too because I think the insulation is heavier weight.
If you don't need the full side zips, the Cocoons are hard to beat. My pair weighs like 7oz.
Dec 15, 2007 at 8:24 pm #1412666My wife and I both have the Patagonia Micro-puff pants. We only pack them for winter camping but they are really warm and toasty! Along with the micro-puff jackets, we have a good margin of error on our sleeping bag too.
My mens large weigh 18 oz. and my wife's small weigh 13.4 oz.

Dec 15, 2007 at 10:29 pm #1412678Roger, those are great deals on authentic Patagonia, and they still have sizes that P.com does not. A few months ago I ordered the DAS from diamondback as my belay parka. They run large by design; a Med Cap.1 fits tight, but the Med DAS is big on me.
In fact I sized down on the micro-puff pants to an S. Im 5'10" and 165lbsEric, thanks, your coupon# saved me about $9 on a Gritty pack, a good deal at $70. I could sell it for double that here in Japan, but I think Ill add it to my rack o' packs.
Ready for winter, now where's the snow and ice!?
Dec 16, 2007 at 8:28 pm #1412776Well I lucked out. I am 6'2", 235 lbs so the XL sizes were good for me. I don't do a whole lot of winter camping but it's something that I wanted to get into and maybe this will get me going on it. All in all I got both the pants and parka for $143. Thanks to Eric for the extra 15% off and everyone else for the feedback on the pants. Lastly, green is my favorite color!!!
Dec 17, 2007 at 8:10 am #1412807Hey All:
So this is my first winter that I care about buying nice winter clothing built for hiking as opposed to built for snowboarding or wearing aroudn town.
The deal at diamondback for the DAS parka is amazing! So I have two questions:
1. I notice that this parka looks slightly different from what patagonia puts in their stores. It doesn't have that oval shape that comes out over the chest… IS this DAS parka EXACTLY the same as the DAS parka in patagonia stores aside from the color?
2. I was planning on getting thru this winter with what I have now and waiting for the sales to buy gear for next year. In everyone's experience, will the DAS parka go on sale from patagonia for a price around $150? I would prefer to get it in blue rather than this green color.
Thanks!
Edit: I've seen a lot of people mention Diamondbacktactical before. I remember one poitn people were worrying becaue they were not getting their orders in a timely fashion. Do people have good experiences with this company?

I don’t own a DAS Parka but have had good experiences dealing with Diamondback.
Dec 17, 2007 at 9:10 am #1412813The Diamondback DAS should be the same as the regular Patagonia DAS.
However, the one I received had noticeably less loft than another one that I compared it to.
I ended up sending it back.

I only ordered $36 worth of stuff. The shipping was $8.50. 15% would have been $5.40.
So if you're not ordering much, the free shipping can be a better deal than the 15% off coupon (you can't use both coupons).
Wow, these are some great deals.
Dec 17, 2007 at 5:25 pm #1412870Thank Jeff and Eric!!!
DAS parka is en route.Dec 17, 2007 at 10:34 pm #1412902Andrew,
Before I ordered the DAS from diamondback I tried one on at my local Patagonia. The DAS which arrived seems to be identical except in color. They are advertised as DAS on pat.com as well. Its just a synthetic puffy jacket; dont pay more than $150Dec 30, 2007 at 9:01 am #1414148I wish I had seen the extra 15% off coupon but 99 bucks ain't bad.
The XL fits me fine over other layers (belay style).
This olive (alpha) green color is SO much better than the foo-foo colors Patagonia usually offers. —> Fushia!!! Periwinkle!!! Buttercup!!!
