Anyone ever try this? You're making a Down quilt, yah put the baffles in to stabilize the down, but then after, you put down in on top of the baffles. Down is subject to gravity, it will tend to sink to the valley parts of the inside of the quilt. But with the baffles there, and with a layer of material over it all, the free down won't tend to shift much, especially if it's "over stuffed". Conceptually, this strikes me as really upping the warmth efficiency at not much extra weight. I know there are other ways to improve the efficiency, like trapezoid baffles, but seems like making those would be more difficult than the above? I wonder what test results of two equal sizes of down filled square, one with all the down in baffles and the other where most is in the baffles, but some is free on top, would be? Anybody willing to measure/test the potential difference?
