Ad videos in articles forcing screen to jump

As I was to read a couple of articles today, a video ad for something (not sure what it is, I keep my sound off) kept making my web browser jump from where ever I was in the article to the beginning of the forum posts for that article. Is there a workaround for this? Perhaps a setting in my web browser I could tweak? It is becoming quite annoying. Thanks in advance for the help.
