The rattle is due to the type of plugs on the pole ends as I described in this previous thread:
Having no luck finding the plugs, I decided to remove the desired plugs from an older set of "Outdoor Products" poles I have…the alum poles people have been buying at Walmart for ~$26. The pole diameters are the same, or close enough, that the swap went easy. I had to sand on the smaller plug a bit to get it into the LG CP3 pole.
In the following photo, the original LG pole is on the left. The pole on the right has the new plug….with a foam earplug inside to expand the plastic plug even further.
The rattle is completely eliminated in the CP3s. Oddly, the "Outdoor Products" poles don't seem to rattle any more without the plugs.

Aug 24, 2015 at 12:25 pm #2222771My GG lightreks are funny. They don't rattle, but since various replacement parts, they make two distinctive 'thunk' sounds as they land, one semitone apart.
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:31 pm #2222787I use one of those Outdoor Products flick-lock poles w/ a GG grip. It's lasted me three years of hard wear. Now I've got a new place to store my earplugs! Thanks :)

Thanks :) Say, I always wondered about placing the GG grips on those poles. How did it go for you? Also, did you affix straps on too?
Aug 24, 2015 at 1:57 pm #2222791No straps, but the grips went on fairly easily. Ironically, I followed a post from a person who put them on CP3's. I don't know how you would add straps, but I'm sure someone has done it here.
Aug 24, 2015 at 2:09 pm #2222792Thanks. I added a strap to my Yana pole. Pretty simple: Metal grommet in a webbing loop with a bolt through that into a rubber expansion nut inserted into the top of the pole. Works great….except, though not a huge deal, you can feel the screw head while palming the pole on descents.
