I have been a member for over 11 years. Lately I have been posting on gear swap.
If you go through my posts you will see that the majority is gear that I am giving away.
There are a few in between that are for sale and at very low prices. I am shipping through priority mail flat rate and these are the prices: large box: $17.90
Medium box: $12.65 Small box $5.95. Envelope $5.75. On top of this a PayPal fee. Because I work full time I do not have time to go to the post office and I have to ask someone to do this for me. Usually it is $2 per box that I give to this person to cover time and gas. This person does not like to deal with asking questions at the post office. It is easier just to take boxes that have a flat rate where the cost is known. This is why I round the prices to $10/$15/ and $20.00. One example, on my last post the one for the jackets. The Patagonia wind shirt cost me $5.00. The Patagonia rain jacket cost me $10.00. That is why I am asking $15.00 for both that will fit in a medium box or $10 separate that will fit in an envelope. I am not making any money. I am losing money. I could fill up a couple of boxes with everything that I have that I don't need and never will use and take it to the good will, but I feel better if I give this gear away to people on this forum that have some use for it. If you want some of this gear you can go through my posts. There are still some gear there that no one has claimed. Don't try to offer me less because like I have mentioned I am not making any profit on this.Aug 22, 2015 at 1:41 am #2222346Uggghhhh, I know… shipping fees are getting insane. It cost me $15 bucks to send a pair of shoes about 300 miles from Eureka down to SF. Stupid!!
I have just started a give away of $1000+ worth of gear over on facebook and it is probably going to cost me over three hundred bucks just in shipping… for gear I am just giving away… uggghhhh.
So yeah, I feel your pain and totally get what you are talking about.
