Here's my time lapse video from last night.

Thunder showers hit the Blue Mountains last night so we drove to the Goldendale Observatory instead. We were there with 100ish other people and arrived late so no real opportunity to set this up with a nice silhouette of the mountains or trees.

Sony A6000/16mm lens using Sony's time lapse app custom settings at f2.8 ISO 3200 20 second exposure. Captured a little over 500 images before I exhausted the battery. Smoke from nearby fires obscured the stars soon after.

Look forward to doing this every year with my family.

Nice. I'm too lazy to get up and see them, plus I have something planned in a few days so I don't want to take a trip out of town.

Nice family activity. Infect young'ns with interest in science.

    Very nice Ian.
I have been getting up at night several times to take our dog out and end up sitting on the porch a bit . Last night I saw three in just ten minutes .

That's about how it was last night for me too. I was up on the highest ridge on the east coast and struggled to stay awake from 1:30-3:30 and was underwhelmed with the frequency. There were some spectacular ones but just not enough. A great night to be laying out on a bald at 5600' though!

    Thanks all.

"100 per hour" wasn't what I experienced but I don't remember having to wait more than five minutes after we saw our first one. Some of them were pretty spectacular though. Well worth the effort.

The Goldendale Observatory wasn't our original plan but it was a ton of fun. An amateur astronomer who could've given Neil deGrasse Tyson a run for his money in terms of knowledge and humor gave a nice presentation that went off and on until 2am. Had a chance to see the international space station fly by and disappear into earth's shadow which was a real treat.
