very light! i cut the cuffs off mine (8 grams men’s small) and bring them as camp pants to ward off the general chill of evening in the desert. compressability IS a minor issue here,so a four. i consider these an insulating layer (on the trail under shorts if it got cold) a median point between nothing and the cocoon pants for example. carefree. featherweight.
The expedition weight STRETCH capilene fabric is the best synthetic on the market. Very warm, somewhat windproof (but bring wind/rain pants if it’s really windy), dry rapidly, reasonable tear resistant if you wear them under shorts as long pants. A pair is nearly always in my pack or on my legs.
