For anyone planning a trip to Colorado and the 4 Pass Loop or other destinations within the Maroon Bells – Snowmass Wilderness please read. Hard sided Bear Canister is now required as it already was in RMNP.

Regardless, you will be pleased with the scenery. I was there last weekend (downhill mtb) and took a moment to enjoy the views.view

    To whom it may concern.

Maroon Bells and Snowmass hard sided canister rule includes the Ursack.

They go by the IGBC Certified Bear Resistant products list. I double checked with an Aspen ranger who confirmed Ursack is ok.  I got the feeling they would prefer less experienced campers to use rigid containers but again, Ursack is legal.

    Alexander,

Didn’t see your post, so called the Aspen ranger district this morning with the same question.

The ranger emphasized that, in order to be effective, you have to do up the opening of the ursack right. So I figured I’d post a link to a video showing the right way to do it

    how to use your ursack
