Hey everyone. I'm trying to put together a close to minimalist pack and am lost as to what else I may need on the trail. Any input negative or positive.
So most of my hiking is done in the Yosemite valley/ Sierra Nevadas during the summer so rarely will it get below 65*f. I don't have the weight of any of my equipment seeing as I'm not really aiming and the lowest weight, but more at the minimal amount of gear. For a pack I have a north face storm break 35L
•eureka solitaire with aluminum poles and stakes.
•pending rei 40 degree sleeping bag.
•Close cell foam mat lined with silnylon
•Optimus Tera cook pot
•aluminum can penny stove
•multi tool
• first aid/emergency kit
•sawyer water filtrationJul 2, 2015 at 12:56 pm #2211710Sorry guys forget to mention a couple things

(several other people show photos and give gear lists in the thread as well),so hopefully this might help you a bit to visualize what you might need.
Here is some general info for you to look at
Mike Clelland(NOLs instructor and author, his books are very good),he has some great FREE VIDEOS on lightening up be sure to watch(his clothing system, the entire contents of his pack, water treatment and part 1 and 2 on the dinky stuff for ideas),this is a simple SPREAD SHEET for you to download, this is pmags Lightweight Backpacking 101 and The Frugal Backpacker – The $300 Gear Challenge .These are some other articles and videos for you to check outBackpacking for Cheap: Gear for the Gearless

You could make toothpaste dots like Mike C. shows or there are Archtek Toothpaste Tablets so only bring exactly what you need in a snack size bag for any given trip instead of a whole tube and THESE are good for little thing like pills, toothpaste tablets ect. so you are not packing a whole bottle(you can also get them very cheap at most pharmacies) . -
