I absolutely didn't want the (almost) useless dead weight of the caddy…it was a hard sell but after several trips paying very special care not to damage the can it inevitable did dent and I thought it would only be a matter of time before I had a slip or accidental bump and it would be ruined so I buckled and bought a caddy. This also allowed me to enjoy the hikes more as I wasn't worried about damaging/crushing the can at all.
I also learned that after a trip you MUST let the can dry out completely before storing as whatever liquid I packed the first one away with ate through the can in several spots :-(.
The neoprene sleeve I find very useful too to keep coffee/soups/chinese noodles warm for ages! It has a full bottom too so you can rest the can on your leg to eat and also aids in the prevention of heatloss through the bottom.
I know it's not THE LIGHTEST setup out there (I have seen much lighter though none with a caddy and insulator) but it suits me to a T.
Mik, thanks for the photos. The color is eye candy :)
I agree, aluminum and the salts in water have a way of pitting the inside of thin pots. My Kmart grease pot has that character about it.
Your kit is light and looks great, love the color combos :)
Your concentrator is on it's way.
Cheers Dan, thanks again :-).
The colors just 'came together' lol…..accidental
Mik, I also sent along a Brian Green Esbit Tray. You'll be able to compare the difference by using it in your TriWing. It will slow down the burn rate and may even prevent the flames from going up the side of your pot. Do the comparison testing under calm conditions.
