Anyone spent any time under the MLD Cuben Poncho? I have spent a few rainy nights under the venerable Golite Poncho and found it just big enough. Looking at the size of the MLD Cuben Poncho, I wonder how a 6' tall, 210# guy would fair and what possible pitching options I would have?
Haven't spent time under it, but if the Golite poncho was just big enough, then the smaller MLD might not do it for you.
Seems like the MLD Cuben Pro Poncho would be a much better choice, even though it costs $155 more.
The Pro measures 5'2" wide (head) and 4'7" (foot), whereas the basic MLD Cuben Poncho is 4'4" wide throughout.
The Pro is $155 more and 3.4oz heavier! Oh, the wages of cuben! The coverage looks much better, but it will only save me 3.5oz from my Gatewood, and that cost per ounce is too steep for me. I might try the Cuben Poncho and take a gamble. I have a bivy if I need it, and a cuben quilt, so I am not as concerned about sidewall condensation or over-spray. It will shave 7oz off my shelter system for an acceptable cost per ounce. If it is a bust, then I could always throw it up on Gear Swap and cut my losses. Still, if anyone out there has spent some nights under the Cuben Poncho, I would like to know your thoughts.
