If you are a gram wienie, you can shift over to a cuben fiber groundsheet to save weight (at a big cost). I think my groundsheet weighs less than 3 ounces.
Money is no object! Don't think about how much it costs. Think about what it would be worth.
More information if you like. I have two pieces of Tyvek. One is the standard type which weighs 2.1 ounces/square yard. The other, if I recall correctly, is called kite Tyvek and it weighs 1.5 ounces/square yard. Both probably 10 years old or older.
There are at least 15 different types of Tyvek.
From 1.2 oz to 3.2 oz per sq yard .
The "kite Tyvek" (usually 1443R) is at the light end (1.2oz)
here is a higher resolution version of the chart I posted some time ago :
As somebody who has received a lot of great advice from this forum I am happy to be able to finally give something back! I just happened to have received a 52" x 90" Tyvek sheet today that I purchased from EBay to stick under my Copper Spur UL2. It is 6.5 ounces.
Adding grommets and some tie-outs got me to 7oz even.
