I'm an average temperature sleeper and I want to get away from my mummy bag. I want to use the quilts year round. Below are my gear/body stats:

    Body: 6' 1" / 190 lbs / High metabolism
Sleep Style: Figure 4 side sleeper
    Pad(s): Xlite or Xtherm (Large)
Bag: Current sleeping bag is Stoic Somnus 15* Long (850fp Quantum)
    Location: Colorado
Tents: Duomid for Summer / String Ridge 2 for Winter

I'm thinking the below configurations are good, but wanted some forum advice.

    Revelation – Regular/XWide – 30* for 3-season
    Enigma – Regular/XWide – 0* for winter

Anyone have feedback on whether 30 is good for 3-season in Colorado or should I go +10/-10 on the temperature rating? It will be possible at times that I might have to use the 30* in the winter when my wife uses the 0*, but this is very infrequent.

As a point of reference, I've slept in the Somnus in single digits in very deep snow multiple times and never cold. I've also used it in the summer and been okay with nothing but boxers.

    Thanks for your help,
    Kris

With a 20 and a 40 you could layer them for what would roughly equal a 5 degree quilt. I layered my 30 RevX over my 20 Rev the other night and was toasty warm at 4 degrees.

I really think having a 20 and a 40 would be the ultimate for versitility. Summer, spring/fall, and winter in just two quilts.

depends on what temperature your trips will be

select the median temperature – say, half your trips will be above 40 F, and half under 40 F

and the lowest temperature – say 0 F

    then get a 40 F and a 0 F quilt

The downside to the two quilt configuration is a 40 and 20 totals 39.14 ounces in a Regular/XWide.

As far as camping temperatures. I prefer camping in the winter, the last few times it was single digits with snow deep enough dig the tent down 2-3'. As far as summer temperatures, probably 70-80 highs. A 10* might be sufficient for my winter needs when I think about it this way.
